The ground work was laid at various times depending who you ask... mosy say mid fifties to early sixties, some say as far back as the thirties and forties- urban lore aside, we know by physical evidence that skateboards were coming to light around of the middle of the fifties decade. The public library yielded the diagrams shown on this page. Back then it was all do it yourself style set ups. Every roller was a cistom built made from a little hunk of wood and little sister's hacked up roller skates.
