Putting the Fun in Funeral

Jan 27, 2012Skull Skates

A couple hundred humans of all shapes, sizes, ages and walks of life came thru to pay their last respects to the old Skull Skates / PD's Hot Shop on 4th ave in Vancouver. The absence of wreaths and flowers were made less obvious by the presence of artistic scrawlings which covered the soon to be crumbling walls and spoke of times past.

Musical expressions of varied styles were born and found their way to eardrums while mouths emitted communication important and trivial, which may or may not have been connected to the scene at hand. While no official eulogy was delivered, there was an overall sense of completion, satisfaction and closure evident in the collective mindset of attendees.

Images below serve as proof in part to the event and location modifications therein which special thanks to photographer Susanne Tabata. Film by Mike McKinlay.
