Q- When did you first start skateboarding?
A- In 1969.
Q- Describe your first set-up.
A- I'm not sure what kind, but it was one of those "black night" era clay
wheel jobs.
Q- What got you stoked to begin skating?
A- The feeling.
Q- How has skateboarding changed your life?
A- A long time ago I hung up an landed on my head with no helmet. I've never
been the same.
Q- Describe your current set up.
A- Skull, Indy, Spitfire.
Q- What was your most memorable session?
A- Back in the early 80's an aqueduct was built from Colorado to California.
The under ground sections were pipe's. I think they were 21'. They were made
on the job site and stored in rows to cure before being put under ground.
Most of the sessions were in the middle of the rows cause you were hidden an
could skate without being caught, but there were also pipe's in the ground.
They would drop down hill, level off for a while then go back up. I was
skating a downhill section with Alva," The Jer", Hackett, an Shogo, somehow
Shogo's board went down into the darkness. We went after the board with a
half full bic lighter as our only light. It was pitch black down there. We
were all suffering from sensory deprivation by the time we found the damn
thing. Any way Alva starts to fakie back and forth with this sticker in his
hand. Then he jumps off, sticks it as high as he can and challenges anyone
to go over it. On his first try " The Jer" went over it, frontside. He just
threw his feet up over his head and slid it like a big surf snap. No one
else even came close!
Q- What's your favorite move?
A- Frontside rock. I don't care who does it or where, it always looks good.
Q- Do you think about the future?
A- Not really.
Q- Describe your definition of skateboarding.
A- My favorite way to hurt myself.
Q- What is the craziest thing you have done (or seen done) on a skateboard?
A- I wouldn't call anything I've done on a skateboard crazy. I would
however call BB's Mt. Baldy "El Rollo" or his loop with out the lid crazy.
Q- Why keep skating?
A- It makes me feel young.
Q- What is your impression of skating in it's current state?
A- Inspiring, I wish I could do some tech shit.
Q- Who is the greatest skateboarder of all time?
A- That's a trick question, all time hasn't happened yet. Alva or Hosoi or
