..... All was set… the corpses of legendary pro skaters David Hackett and Steve Olson had been exumed according to plan. 15 years had blurred by and since Skull Skates was their final resting place we became responsible for the skeletal remains. The reason behind this excavation? …. The Concrete Wave (History Of Skateboarding) book launch in conjunction with the twenty first year Skull Skates product launch was taking place at PD’s Hotshop in Vancouver Canada and old school ghosts were summoned up to attend.

..... Caskets were unloaded off the cargo plane and whisked directly to the New Westminster skatepark, where an amazing reanimation process unfolded. Charged by residual flow vibes contained in the park’s compound curves, energy filled the cadavers with life, taking the twisted forms at speed throughout the parkscape guided by glowing eyes. Horrified locals gasped at these apparitions from beyond, held court and sat in judgement of style and continuity.

..... Other stops on the cemetery tour included skimboarding at Spanish Banks (sorry no flicks, but take my word for it, Olson was doing hood ornaments in a bath robe and his fuzzy leopard skin cowboy hat) and longboarding at the giant concrete tomb known as the UBC parkade. The latter provided hours of entertainment sessioning with our other worldly guests and zombie locals. All in attendance got schooled in surfstyle skating by Hackett and Olson, the rolling demons who invented the form. They proved time and again their methods for creating art from chaos were pure and intact.

..... With spots shredded, and pleasantries dispensed, all that was left was the formality of the book/product launch which was a success with many thanks to Steve Olson, David Hackett, Lisa Hill, Satoshi Ono, Kilocee, Shuggy M, Michael Brooke, The Boy, Slutty, Kevin Harris, B-Rad and many local and international supporters of Skull Skates who shall go unnamed.
